YouShift is building a workforce system for hospitals where scheduling, time, credentialing and pay have to agree with each other. Its immediate buyer is a healthcare operator still stitching together spreadsheets, scheduling software and payroll while trying to keep every shift covered and every clinician eligible.

## What it does

The [current YouShift site](https://youshift.com/) describes scheduling, time tracking, payroll and workforce forecasting with AI agents helping coordinate the work. A clinician can view a schedule, request time off, pick up or swap a shift and review pay. The organization can build schedules around coverage, rest rules, contract hours and requests, check licenses and credentials, fill open shifts, and trace approved time into payroll.

The system names integrations with Epic, Cerner, MEDITECH, athenahealth, UKG, Workday, ADP, Oracle HCM, Infor, symplr, CAQH ProView, Medallion and Verifiable. The [YC launch](https://www.ycombinator.com/launches/Muh-youshift-ai-powered-shift-scheduling-for-healthcare) says more than 1,000 doctors across Europe and the US use YouShift to create schedules; that is company-reported usage, not an independently measured workforce outcome.

## Why I’d look closer

The advantage is the link from schedule to pay. If a swap changes eligibility, rest, hours or differentials, the payroll team can see the calculation rather than rebuild the period across separate tools. The founder background is close to the problem: Lucía Vives Martorell studied biomedical science, Jota Chamorro has a Harvard CS background, and Adolfo Roquero Gimenez worked on Google Ads infrastructure.

The tradeoff is rule complexity. A schedule can be mathematically valid and still fail a contract, credential, union, local labor or clinical coverage requirement. AI coordination should prepare changes inside limits the hospital owns; it should not quietly publish a schedule or make a staffing decision that hides its reasoning.

## What I’d ask

Which rules are hard constraints and which are preferences? Can a manager inspect the rest, eligibility and coverage checks behind every assignment? How are credential changes, payroll corrections and post-publication swaps audited? Which system is authoritative when the EHR, credentialing source and schedule disagree?

## My editorial take

Shortlist YouShift if the cost of scheduling is showing up in uncovered shifts, payroll disputes and scheduler headcount. Start with one department and a read-only reconciliation of schedules, credentials and approved hours before allowing agents to prepare changes. The product’s useful promise is connected workforce data; the proof is whether a published schedule survives real-world exceptions.
