Unifold is developer infrastructure for accepting on-chain deposits, payouts and settlement across chains and tokens. It fits a consumer app, prediction market, exchange or fintech that wants one deposit experience instead of teaching every user how to bridge, switch chains and find the right stablecoin.

## What it does

[Unifold’s current homepage](https://unifold.io/) describes one API for deposits, payouts, checkout, orchestration and treasury. It can provision user-specific deposit addresses, route tokens across Ethereum, Solana, Bitcoin, Arbitrum, Base and other supported networks, and settle into a target asset. The page also lists exchange and wallet connections, gas sponsorship, webhooks and policy-based provider routing.

The product advantage is the funding step. Users care about getting money into an app, not about chain IDs or which version of USDC they hold. Unifold says it handles routing, conversion, confirmation and settlement while the customer controls policies and destination logic. [The YC launch](https://www.ycombinator.com/launches/PRe-unifold-universal-deposit-infrastructure-for-on-chain-apps) describes the developer API and SDK as a way to launch a deposit flow with fewer than 10 lines of code; the current homepage says a guided setup can take under nine minutes. Those are company product claims, not an independent integration test.

The homepage also advertises built-in compliance and exchange-based verification. That does not make every transaction compliant by default. A buyer needs to understand the regulated partners, geography, sanctions checks, custody model, conversion fees and what happens when a transfer is delayed or a chain reorganizes.

## Founder context and tradeoffs

The YC profile identifies Timothy Chung, Hau Chu and Quang Huynh as founders. Timothy previously co-founded Streambird, later acquired by MoonPay; Hau is described as a Cornell Tech graduate; Quang’s background includes MoonPay wallets, stc pay and healthcare software. Their experience maps to wallets, identity, fintech and multi-chain consumer flows.

Pricing is not public. The purchase decision should be based on supported corridors, volume, custody and reconciliation rather than the number of networks in a marketing list. Developers should also ask which provider operations are abstracted and which remain the customer’s responsibility.

## Editorial take

I would shortlist Unifold for a product where deposit abandonment is a real activation problem and the team does not want to build a routing and settlement stack. The first proof is one high-volume deposit path with clear failure handling. If a product is still deciding whether it needs crypto rails, the infrastructure is premature.
