TryNearby: local creator marketing for restaurants

TryNearby matches restaurants with nearby creators who visit, publish local content and are coordinated by AI agents on a recurring subscription.

Published · Updated

What it does

TryNearby gives local businesses a recurring creator-marketing channel. Restaurants subscribe, and the platform matches them with nearby creators who book visits, film, edit and post reviews or short-form content. AI agents handle matching, booking, reminders and creator conversations. The YC profile describes the Southern California network; the launch description gives the commercial offer as $399/month.

The fit is a restaurant or local business that needs fresh, location-relevant discovery content but does not have the time or staff to recruit creators every month. The platform is not buying a single influencer post. Its wedge is repeat local supply, coordinated by software, with the restaurant serving the food and the creators producing the media.

Why I’d look closer

The operating loop is specific. TryNearby says a matching agent finds creators nearby, creators choose a time, an agent handles reminders and reschedules over iMessage, and the owner gets an assistant that reports on videos, comments and reviews. That is a real operational advantage over a marketplace where a restaurant still has to manage every conversation.

The company reports 120+ paying restaurants, 2,500+ videos, about 35M views, 37% month-over-month growth and more than 90% monthly restaurant retention since November. It also reports individual restaurant outcomes, including nearly doubling revenue in one month and a 50% sales increase for another. These are company-reported results, not independent attribution. The right test is incremental foot traffic and repeat economics, not view count alone.

The founders’ professional context is unusually relevant. The YC biographies describe Yousef Abdelfattah as a FaZe Clan co-founder and long-time creator-economy operator, and Obaida Albaroudi and Ahmad Ibrahim as early Replit/Goldman Sachs and video-clipping infrastructure builders. That mix explains the emphasis on local supply and automation.

What I’d ask

How are creators vetted, disclosed and paid, and how does the service handle food-safety, review authenticity and content rights? I’d run one restaurant for a month with a clean baseline for covers, calls, map actions and repeat visits. The $399 subscription is clear; the harder question is whether content drives profitable local demand after the first novelty spike.

My editorial take

TryNearby is a strong fit for independent restaurants that understand local content but cannot manage a creator program. Its automation is more concrete than a generic “creator marketplace.” I’d judge it on attributable visits and repeat customers, keeping the large view and growth claims explicitly company-reported.
