Pluto is a voice-first professional profile for a hiring market where people and AI agents need more context than a resume provides. It fits professionals willing to explain their experience once and recruiting teams that want searchable, warm introductions instead of another keyword database.

## What it does

[Pluto’s current site](https://talentpluto.com/) asks a professional to talk for about 10 minutes, review what the agent learned, choose what stays private and control how the profile is discovered. The public workflow then moves from structured career context to a potential warm introduction when the professional is interested. The company positions this as a richer layer than a resume or online profile.

The two-sided design is the important product decision. A professional gets control over experience, strengths, goals, preferences and privacy. A hiring company gives Pluto a role and receives candidates whose context and interest are already partially understood. That can reduce the gap between “looks relevant” and “actually wants this kind of work,” but only if both sides keep enough information current.

Public counts are not perfectly synchronized. [The current YC profile](https://www.ycombinator.com/companies/talentpluto) reports 27K-plus professionals and 50-plus companies, while the homepage says 25K-plus people and the older launch reported 18K-plus professionals and 100-plus companies. These are company-published snapshots, not independent marketplace or placement measurements. I would treat them as directional evidence that the network is active, not as a conversion promise.

## Founder context and tradeoffs

The YC profile identifies Sahil Seth as CEO, Maki Potamianos as CPO and Tony Xavier as CTO. Their public backgrounds include AI recruiting, an edtech marketplace and voice-agent/RAG work. That maps neatly to the product’s mix of recruiting workflow, structured context and voice interaction, but it does not prove candidate quality or successful placements.

Pricing is not public. The buyer should ask how companies search, what is shared by default, how a professional edits or withdraws context and what happens after a warm introduction. A network built on private context also needs a clear answer for stale information and unwanted discovery.

## Editorial take

I would shortlist Pluto for a startup hiring roles where demonstrated work, motivation and constraints matter more than a tidy title history. I would not use it as a replacement for reference checks or a broad sourcing database. Its real test is whether a hiring manager receives fewer but better-intent introductions than the existing funnel.
