Overlap turns long-form video into short-form distribution on social accounts the customer owns. The buyer decision is not simply whether AI can cut clips; it is whether a brand, media company, creator network, or venture firm wants performance-priced output that leaves the accounts, posts, and audience behind.

## What it does

Overlap describes an agent that watches connected sources, finds moments, edits and captions clips, applies brand rules, routes items for approval, publishes them, and reports the views. Its brand page lists TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Threads, Snapchat, and Bluesky as supported channels. The same workflow is offered for firm-owned venture-capital accounts and partner content ([Overlap homepage](https://www.overlap.ai/); [Overlap for brands](https://overlap.ai/brands); [Overlap for venture capital](https://overlap.ai/brands/venture-capital)).

| Fact | What the public sources say |
| --- | --- |
| Buyer | Brands, media networks, creators, and venture firms with recurring long-form content |
| Input | Podcasts, interviews, livestreams, webinars, panels, and other long-form recordings |
| Pricing | The company lists $0.50–$2.50 CPM on delivered views with a monthly ceiling |
| Ownership | Customers keep the connected accounts, followers, posts, and performance data |
| Founders | Jonathan Baer and Casey Traina |

## Why it fits

The differentiator is the economic model and distribution ownership. A normal editing retainer pays for hours or deliverables whether a clip travels or not. Overlap says the bill follows delivered views, unposted clips are not charged, and accounts remain with the customer. That is a meaningful fit for a media team willing to let an agent publish under defined brand rules but unwilling to rent somebody else's audience ([Overlap for brands](https://overlap.ai/brands)).

There is a tradeoff: performance pricing does not create an audience by itself. The customer still needs a good source library, enough moments worth watching, platform permissions, and a review policy for claims, guests, confidential announcements, and brand safety. The homepage displays large customer and view figures, but those are company-reported case-study material, not an independent reach audit ([Overlap homepage](https://www.overlap.ai/)). The public sources do not show a fixed monthly fee.

Founder biographies in the reviewed public sources are brief, so the product context is clearer than the professional backstory. That is fine for evaluating the workflow: the practical test is whether the approval queue, brand kit, publishing controls, and platform analytics match the team's risk tolerance.

Short version: Overlap is a strong fit for an organization with a deep archive and an owned social strategy. It is a weak fit if the team has little long-form material, needs guaranteed editorial quality, or cannot give an agent controlled access to publishing accounts.
