Juxta builds infrastructure-free positioning for people, assets, and robots in places where GPS, beacons, cameras, or reliable connectivity are not enough. The buyer decision is whether on-device sensor data and learned spatial models can deliver useful location in an indoor, underground, offline, or GPS-denied operation.

## What it does

Juxta describes a Universal Positioning System that uses existing device sensors, spatial simulation, and machine learning to provide real-time location. Its current products include a software SDK for iOS, Android, and embedded systems and NODE1 asset tags for crates, equipment, and other physical assets ([Juxta homepage](https://www.juxta.com/); [Juxta SDK](https://www.juxta.com/products/software-sdk)).

| Fact | What the public sources say |
| --- | --- |
| Buyer | Defense, logistics, healthcare, robotics, and field-operations teams |
| Deployment | Existing IMU-enabled devices or Juxta asset tags |
| Environments | Indoor, outdoor, underground, GPS-denied, and offline use cases are listed |
| Public deployment claim | The company says deployment can be remote and take under an hour |
| Founder | John Ferrara |

## Why it fits

The product targets a clear gap in ordinary GPS. A hospital may want to find equipment, a warehouse may want visibility without installing beacons, and a defense or field team may need positioning where signals are weak or deliberately unavailable. A software-first option is attractive if the buyer already owns the devices and cannot justify new infrastructure at every site.

The accuracy and savings claims are company-published. The homepage and SDK page display 1 m accuracy, up to 5x lower cost, and operational case-study figures; a buyer should test drift, calibration, sensor compatibility, offline sync, battery impact, maps, privacy, and failure behavior in the actual environment ([Juxta homepage](https://www.juxta.com/)). Pricing is request-based. This is a technology profile, not defense, healthcare, or safety advice.

Ferrara's public YC biography describes data-science and journalism training and a focus on asset and personnel tracking ([YC company profile](https://www.ycombinator.com/companies/juxta)).

Short version: Juxta is worth evaluating where GPS or installed infrastructure is the blocker. Start with a bounded site and a known ground truth before treating “universal” positioning as operationally ready.

## Cohort context

Juxta is listed in Summer 2025. In our 2026-09-18 directory snapshot, 112 of 166 listed companies in that cohort have YC’s primary industry label B2B (67.5%). This is a current-directory comparison, not an original intake count or a performance ranking. [Nine-cohort dataset](https://mudpie.ai/research/yc-cohorts-2026-09-19.json).
