Helonic fits a construction team that wants to inspect an entire drawing set before coordination problems become field rework. It is not a replacement for the architect, engineer or project executive who owns the decision.
What it does
Helonic analyzes 2D PDF construction plans across architectural, structural and MEP disciplines. The company says it detects clashes, missing information, code issues and drawing mismatches, then returns findings with page coordinates, severity and category. The product’s useful boundary is review. Helonic’s own FAQ says the system does not replace the reviewer; it covers sheets the reviewer may never reach. That is a sensible position for construction software. Finding a possible conflict is not the same as deciding that a design is wrong.
The homepage currently reports more than 1 million drawing pages reviewed, more than 2 million issues flagged, and more than $500 million in rework avoided. It also reports 90%+ detection accuracy across ten categories. These are company-reported figures, not an independent benchmark.
Why I’d look closer
The buyer is easy to identify: preconstruction teams, general contractors, architects, engineers and project executives facing large PDF sets and expensive coordination RFIs. The public workflow is also concrete: upload, analyze, share issues, review, then push an RFI.
The founder context supports the technical wedge. The YC profile describes Milind Sagaram as a former SpaceX and BMW engineer. That does not prove construction performance, but it fits a product built around geometry, drawing interpretation and engineering workflows.
What could make it the wrong choice
A drawing-analysis tool is only as useful as the documents and review process around it. Ask how it handles inconsistent sheet naming, revised drawings, discipline-specific standards, code jurisdiction, false positives and missing context. Ask what the reviewer sees before an RFI is sent.
Pricing is not published in the checked sources. The public material lists integrations and reported scale but does not provide a buyer-level implementation estimate. The company also lists customer names on its site; those are company-selected signals, not independent reviews.
My editorial take
I would shortlist Helonic for a construction organization with repeated drawing-review volume and a clear Procore or Autodesk workflow. I would start with one project type and compare flagged issues with the team’s existing review process. The product’s value is not “AI understands plans.” It is the possibility of putting a second pass across every sheet before an expensive field correction.
