Freeport Markets combines pre-IPO exposure, crypto and perpetual-futures trading
Freeport Markets presents a 24/7 trading product for pre-IPO exposure, crypto, global markets and perpetual futures with an AI research layer.
Published · Updated
Freeport Markets is a high-risk trading product for people who want pre-IPO exposure, crypto and perpetual futures in one app. The product is not a normal brokerage account and should not be evaluated as one.
What it does
Freeport’s public site describes pre-IPO exposure, equities, crypto, commodities, rates and FX, plus perpetual futures and AI-generated market research. It says users can follow sources, find ideas and trade around the clock. Freeport homepage
The site also explains an important distinction: perpetual futures provide price exposure and do not give the user shares. Pre-IPO contracts can use market-specific reference and oracle rules, while SPV-backed instruments are a separate form of economic exposure. That distinction matters more than the “trade anything” headline.
Freeport’s public homepage reports $175M+ traded, 10,000 downloads and $10M+ open interest. Those are company-published figures, not an independent market-volume audit. Freeport homepage
Why I’d look closer
The founder context is unusually relevant to the product. The YC profile describes Lihong Wang as a former Jane Street and IMC options trader who built systematic and discretionary strategies, with Bryan Reed as the technical cofounder.
The product is aimed at a crypto-adjacent user who wants more markets and more continuous access than a standard exchange provides. The public research layer is part of the pitch: the company says its AI analysts turn trusted social and financial media into market-moving news and trade ideas.
What could make it the wrong choice
The risk is not a footnote. Leverage, perpetual funding, liquidation, oracle behavior, custody, counterparty structure and jurisdiction all change what the product is. The homepage says leverage can reach 50x and describes some core trading as requiring no KYC; those are current company claims that deserve direct legal and account-level confirmation.
A perpetual contract is not ownership of the underlying stock. A pre-IPO contract is not the same as buying a private-company share. A user should understand the exposure, fees, funding mechanics, withdrawal rules and loss boundary before depositing anything.
This profile is not investment advice, and I did not open an account or place a trade.
My editorial take
I would only shortlist Freeport for a sophisticated user who understands derivatives and wants the specific exposure the platform describes. I would not recommend it as a beginner-friendly route into markets. The product’s advantage is breadth and continuous access; the tradeoff is that the same flexibility creates a much larger risk and comprehension burden.
