Forgepoint treats the RFQ as the beginning of the manufacturing workflow.
What it does
Forgepoint’s Frank is an AI inside-sales worker for manufacturers. The homepage describes a path that acknowledges an RFQ, chases missing specifications, prices the part against a cost model, sends a quote for human approval, and logs the work in CRM or ERP systems. The product page makes the input boundary explicit: email, PDFs, spreadsheets and CAD files can all arrive as part of the request.
The product examples show the kind of work the system is meant to handle. Frank asks for missing annual volume, prepares a quote, sends a polished document and follows up. The product page also says the human approves the quote before it reaches the customer. That approval boundary is the part a buyer should care about most.
The security page says Forgepoint has encryption, access controls, audit trails and a SOC 2 Type II audit. These are vendor claims for procurement, not an independent security assessment. Pricing is not published in the cited pages.
Buyer and task
The buyer is a manufacturer whose inside-sales team loses time reading specs, chasing gaps and recreating quotes. Start with one RFQ family where the cost model and approval rules are known. The system should make the missing information visible before it calculates a number, preserve the source document, and show a human exactly what changed before approval.
The workflow boundary is clear: Forgepoint can prepare the quote and follow up; the manufacturer still owns cost assumptions, margin policy and the final commitment to the customer.
The first test
Give Frank three RFQs: one complete, one missing a critical dimension and one with an ambiguous quantity. Review the questions it asks, the cost-model inputs, the quote it drafts and the CRM/ERP record it creates. A good pilot ends with a traceable quote, not just a fast reply.
