Educato fits a student preparing for an exam that is important but underserved by the usual US test-prep platforms. Its public data also gives buyers more to inspect than a generic “AI tutor” claim.

## What it does

Educato builds AI-powered preparation platforms for exams around the world. Its homepage lists more than 10,000 exams, including medical, school, certification and civil-service paths, and says the platform offers personalized plans, question banks, mock exams and an AI tutor. The company’s public analysis of 1,228 mock-exam participants reports that premium users scored nearly five percentage points higher than free-tier users. The analysis itself says this is an observational comparison: users chose their own plan, so motivation and study habits are not fully separated from feature effects. That caveat makes the result more useful, not less.

## Why I’d look closer

Educato’s wedge is the long tail of exams. The company says large incumbents focus on a small set of top US tests while many exams elsewhere have limited online preparation. If that is your exam, the platform may be more useful than a famous prep brand that does not cover the syllabus.

The founder context supports the AI/content angle. The YC profile describes Felix Gabler as a machine-learning specialist and former CTO, with Codrut Lemeni as CEO.

The platform also publishes exam-specific pages and a study-planning flow. That makes the product easier to evaluate by exam rather than by broad app promise.

## What could make it the wrong choice

Coverage is not the same as quality. A student should check the exact exam, syllabus, question style, language, local curriculum and date of the material. The mock-exam comparison is company research, not a randomized trial, and it does not prove that premium features caused the score difference.

The homepage displays a 4.9/5 rating and verified-review count, but those are product-site claims; this profile does not treat them as an independent review study. Pricing and refund rules should be checked for the specific exam path.

## My editorial take

I would shortlist Educato when the exam is supported and the alternative is scattered or nonexistent preparation material. I would not choose it because the platform claims to cover 10,000 exams. Start with the exact syllabus, run a diagnostic, and see whether the questions expose gaps you can actually close.
