Dataleap is pitching “Claude Code for business users”: an agent-first workspace that lets sales, operations and HR teams handle one-off computer work, then turn the useful task into a background agent. The buyer fit is a team with repetitive work spread across email, Slack, CRM, documents and spreadsheets but no appetite for building every workflow in engineering.

What it does

The YC profile describes Dataleap as an agentic operating system for the enterprise, without a visual workflow canvas or a long setup. Its launch examples include a meeting briefer that checks email, Slack Connect and HubSpot, an executive assistant that schedules from an alias, an AI SDR that researches accounts and creates HubSpot tasks, and a bug reporter that reads Slack Connect and files issues in Linear.

That range is the point: the user describes a job and an agent works across the existing tools, rather than building a diagram of every step. Dataleap’s current public homepage returned little readable product detail in the checked source packet, so the YC launch remains the clearest public description of the offer. Pricing is not published.

Why I’d look closer

The founders’ backgrounds fit the cross-functional product. YC describes Jan Damm as a former Google Search APM and consultant, and Jan-Hendrik Ruettinger as an AI researcher at Oxford and Volkswagen who also worked at BCG. The prior launch framed Dataleap as a bridge between synchronous AI help and persistent background work.

The advantage is lower workflow-design friction. A business user can start with a real task instead of translating it into a low-code system. The tradeoff is permission scope: an agent that can research contacts, schedule meetings, write CRM records or create tickets can also make an expensive mistake quickly. Teams need clear approvals, source visibility and separate credentials per action.

What I’d ask

Which actions require explicit approval, and which can run unattended? Can a user inspect the sources, fields and recipients before an agent writes or sends? How are browser sessions, third-party credentials, personal data and failed runs isolated? Does a task become a durable agent with a versioned prompt, owner, budget and rollback path?

My editorial take

Shortlist Dataleap if the bottleneck is repetitive knowledge work and the team wants to start from a job rather than a workflow diagram. Begin with read-heavy research or draft-only tasks, then expand one write action at a time. Its product idea is concrete; the public proof now needs to show the control surface around autonomy.
