Chromie is for government contractors that need to decide which opportunities deserve pursuit before a proposal team spends weeks on them. It combines opportunity discovery, recompete signals, solicitation analysis, company knowledge and pipeline tracking around the capture team’s judgment.

## What it does

Chromie’s current site says it monitors federal and SLED sources, scores opportunities against a company profile, surfaces expiring contracts before recompetes reach the market and extracts requirements from solicitation documents. The important distinction is between search and capture. A keyword alert gives a contractor more notices; Chromie says each fit score carries a rationale, each extracted requirement cites its source section and the company brain preserves past performance, documents and team context. That is useful when the bottleneck is go/no-go discipline and institutional memory rather than finding one more portal.

The YC launch reports contractors with more than 100 prime awards and over $250 million in obligated contract value using Chromie, plus claims of three-times monthly proposal output. ## What to check

Government data and proposal strategy need careful provenance. Confirm how SAM.gov and SLED coverage is refreshed, how incumbent and budget signals are labeled, how a fit score handles missing past performance, and whether extracted requirements are reviewed against the original solicitation. The site does not publish pricing, so the comparison is against capture staff time, opportunity volume and proposal waste.

The [YC profile](https://www.ycombinator.com/companies/chromie) identifies Ananth Sankaralingam as a former LinkedIn and Amazon engineer with ML research experience; the launch also describes a team working with former federal contracting officers. That is relevant operating context, not a substitute for verifying a bid.

## My editorial take

I would shortlist Chromie for a contractor with enough bid volume to need a consistent go/no-go process and a real past-performance library. Start with one agency or NAICS focus and audit every recommendation against the solicitation. If the firm is still learning its market or lacks the delivery capacity to honor a win, more opportunities will only create a larger pipeline problem.
