## What it does

Cardamon is an AI compliance platform for regulated financial businesses. It ingests regulations, maps applicable obligations to a firm’s products and markets, monitors regulatory change, runs gap analysis and helps generate policies and controls. The fit is a fintech, bank, crypto firm, investment business or insurer whose product and compliance teams spend weeks turning dense rulebooks into obligations and control work. Cardamon is not a legal sign-off layer. Its value is accelerating the research, mapping and evidence trail while compliance officers remain accountable for the decision.

## Why I’d look closer

The workflow is specific enough to evaluate. Cardamon says its agents link each answer to the underlying regulation, tailor obligations to a firm’s business and risk framework, identify gaps in policies and controls, and produce an audit trail. The homepage reports coverage across 60+ jurisdictions and 950+ daily changes, plus a comparison claiming up to 95% faster mappings. Those are company-reported operating claims, not an independent accuracy or legal-compliance result.

The founders have buyer-side experience. The [YC biographies](https://www.ycombinator.com/companies/cardamon) describe Areg Nzsdejan as a former Revolut product owner who launched ETFs, EU stocks and bonds, with prior Oliver Wyman experience, and Dmytro Astakhov as the former Revolut senior engineer leading development of those products. That background explains why the wedge is product launch friction, not only document search.

## What I’d ask

Which jurisdictions, entities and rulebooks are in scope for the customer’s exact product? Can a compliance officer inspect every source passage, edit the mapping, record rationale and export a reviewable control set? I’d test one regulatory change against a known obligation library, measure false positives and stale interpretations, and verify data retention and role permissions.

## My editorial take

Cardamon is a strong fit for regulated product teams that are slowed by mapping rather than by final legal judgment. The source-linked workflow is the right shape. The product should be judged by auditability and review time, not by the “10X” headline.
