Arden is an AI-native internal-audit platform for SOX teams. It fits public companies, pre-IPO companies and audit groups that are still collecting evidence from twenty disconnected systems, testing controls in spreadsheets and rebuilding the same workpapers every quarter.
What it does
The product promise is specific: connect to the control library and source systems, gather evidence, chase control owners in Slack or Teams, run sample-based or full-population tests, and produce workpapers tied back to the exact field, file and timestamp that support each conclusion. The homepage names Workday, Okta, ServiceNow and Active Directory, plus uploaded Excel, CSV and PDF exports. It says Arden is read-only by default, supports single-tenant deployment, and does not train models on customer data.
Why I’d look closer
That is the part I would pay attention to. Audit software often stores the evidence while leaving the labor intact. Arden is trying to sit earlier in the workflow: collect, test and prepare the work before a human reviewer signs off. The public demo language shows control testing, evidence collection and exception escalation rather than a generic chat window.
The founder profile is unusually aligned with the buyer. The YC profile describes Aryaman Khanna’s AI work at Databricks and Berkeley background, and David Lomelin’s AI work at MIT, Blueprint experience and LLM research. The company’s explicit ask is for introductions to VPs of Internal Audit, CAEs, SOX directors, CFOs and controllers. That makes the first customer narrow by design.
What I’d ask
The constraints are just as important. Arden’s homepage says its independent SOC 2 audit is underway and separately describes SOC 2 Type I as in progress. Pricing is not public. The buyer still needs to verify permissions, evidence retention, auditor acceptance, deployment boundaries and the exact failure path when a source system changes. The bounded company-profile search surfaced a third-party description, but not an independent product review.
My editorial take
Arden is a strong shortlist for a serious internal-audit workflow, not a casual compliance assistant. The editorial question is whether it can earn trust in the messy middle between evidence collection and sign-off. If the answer is yes, the value is not another audit dashboard. It is fewer weeks spent proving what already happened.
